Neurofibromatosis (NF) is the term for three distinct genetic disorders, NF1, NF2, and Schwannomatosis. Each causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body. Usually diagnosed in childhood, NF is a life-long disorder with a variety of potential complications and variation in severity. NF affects both sexes and all races and ethnic groups equally, and is more prevalent than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and Huntington’s disease combined.
We at Palace Florists have always been committed to our clients, our family and our business for over 65 years. We have over these wonderful years supported many charities, causes and worthy organizations whose sole purpose is to help our fellow man. There are certain organizations and charities that have won our heart and support and our desire to promote their cause from within. NF Midatlantic, Inc. (www.nfmidatlantic.org) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1979 to provide information and support to people with neurofibromatosis (NF), their families and anyone interested in the disorder. NF Midatlantic remains dedicated to NF families and the professionals who provide services for them. The mission of NF Mid-Atlantic is to create a community of support for those affected by NF through education, advocacy, coalitions, and promoting research for treatments and a cure. Our goal is to be the primary source of information and support for NF in the Mid-Atlantic region. NF Mid-Atlantic's service area encompasses Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and North Carolina.
